The Tirtha is located at the foot of the Valpolicella well known for the production of fine wine of the same name famous in the world, among them, ther is the Amarone and Recioto. On the Wine Route, in the beauty of the hilly landscape are numerous Venetian Villas (14th-17th century) with historic cellars which can be visited and where you can tasting. For those interested in wine and gastronomy, our location is ideal for visiting other areas adjacent to wine growing, a few kilometers you can indeed take different ‘wine routes’ immersed in landscapes that ranging from the hills of Lake of Garda, with its red and white Chiaretto Bardolino and Lugana (west), to those of whites of Custoza (south) or the medieval town of Soave (east). Opportunities to explore the area and enjoy a lake or inland menu connected with the tradition.

Lake of Garda

Just 20 minutes from the farm is located the Lake of Garda, certainly one of the highlights of our country and a must-see for the natural beauty, its history, its tradition and charm appreciated and praised by artists and writers over the centuries (from the Villa of the roman poet Catullus in Sirmione (I sec. a.c.), the permanence of Goethe in Malcesine or suggestive Vittoriale made by the poet D’Annunzio in Gardone).

These areas, inhabited since prehistoric times, are areas of great natural beauty, with vegetation typical of the Mediterranean climate (olives, grapes, fruit, agaves and other plants) created by the Garda basin and through which the winter is mild. Following the course of its history to the present day through activities and interventions in the past they have given shape to several amusement parks including the most famous in Europe: Gardaland.

These hills are also an important point of migration not only for the environment and the landscape, but also the climate, the typical products of the kitchen, which fit in the context and in the beauty of the countries surrounding Lake Garda, make this destination attraction from every point of view.

The Lessini and Baldo Mountains

The Valpolicella hills extending north to the Lessini Mountains, the area of pastures are still unspoiled, where during summer (you get to 1,800 m. Above sea level) the only sounds are the bells grazing cows, that produce excellent milk for the best cheese call “Monte Veronese Dop” wich can be fresh or aged cheese. If from here we go westward we descend in ValdAdige to climb on Mount Baldo (2,210 m), alpine area that ends overlooking the Lake of Garda. You can climb Mount Baldo along picturesque routes, on foot, by bike or using the Panoramic Cableway from Malcesine on Garda Lake.

The walk on the river

The Alzaia way

Near the farm there is a newly rediscovered ancient door which gives access to the historic trail named “Alzaia“, from which a short walk you can reach the town of Pescantina. The Alzaia was once used by Watermen using horses or oxen, to raise the current to river traffic that could extend to the Adriatic Sea.

On foot, by bicycle or on horseback, the Alzaia offers opportunities to walk and relax along the River, observing the vegetation and views not only of nature but also of human artifacts mainly related to ” river civilization“.

Much of the route is characterized by signs of activity that once took place along the River: remains of drainage and irrigation channels, wheels of mills and furnaces. Architectural, environmental and glimpses of the urban pescantinese, enrich the Alzaia scenic components, making it a unique route.

In Pescantina the Alzaia along the Adige river for a distance of about 11 km from one end to the other of the municipality, crossing the villages of Arcè and St. Lucia up to Ponton westward, or reaching after Settimo and Parona the city of  Verona to the East. Recovered in recent years, has become a route of great natural interest.
